THE BEST VEGAN CARROT DOGS! Fire up that grill #veggies #healthy

Ingredients

  • 8-10 carrots
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce or liquid aminos
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth
  • 2 tbs maple syrup
  • 1 tbs liquid smoke
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • hot dog buns
Your favorite hot dog toppings (Get creative!)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce / liquid aminos
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth
  • 2 TBS maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 TBS liquid smoke
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. First peel your carrots. You can even round off the edges to make them look more like a real hot dog.
  2. Bring a skillet of water to boil and add the carrots. Cook until your carrots are right at fork tender.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the marinade.
  4. Add the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, vegetable broth, maple syrup, liquid smoke, yellow mustard, onion powder, and garlic powder to a mixing bowl or mason jar. Mix well.
  5. Once your carrots are fork tender transfer them to a dish/pan that is long enough for the carrots. Pour the marinade over the carrots. Cover. Let marinate over night or for a few hours.
  6. *note: I’ve made these without marinating the carrots. Instead I added some of the marinade to the skillet and cooked the carrots that way. They turn out tasty this way but, I would recommend marinating the first couple of times you make these.
  7. Heat up the grill or skillet
  8. Cook the carrots just like you would a regular hot dog. The only difference is you want to use the remaining marinade to braise the carrots as you cook.
  9. After your carrots are soft (not breaking apart) and have good grill marks/sear remove from the heat.
  10. Add the carrots to your favorite hotdog buns just like you would a hot dog and pile on those toppings!
